Merlynn Niebaum

Briefly describe your Filipino heritage.

I was born and raised in Olongapo City, Philippines until I was nine years old and then raised in an immersive Filipino culture in California. My parents are natives of Cavite and Pampanga.

What inspires you to achieve your goals?

My children inspire me to achieve any goal I set in life. I want them to see that anything is possible through hard work, determination, and perseverance.

Who are some of the most influential people in your life?

One of the most influential people in my life was, and still remains my mother (deceased). She was relentless in her efforts to ensure a good life for her family.

What would you say to other Filipinos who aspire to do what you are doing?

I say, go for it! The saying “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life” is not true. In fact, you’ll work harder but, the satisfaction you get from the product you yield is so much more than you’ll get from doing something mediocre.

What single achievement are you most proud of?

Overcoming my anxiety and apprehension with owning my own business.
